Nach meiner Lehre als Informatiker konnte ich ein weiteres Jahr Erfahrung bei meinem Ausbildungsbetrieb Swiss Life sammeln, wo ich als JEE-Entwickler für Teile der Document Services zuständig war.

I have set up a Docker Swarm cluster on the new Hetzner Cloud. First things first – the Hetzner Cloud is really amazing: Super simple, super cheap and performs as expected. It is not a bloated cloud provider that has 100x services and features that you can use for your servers, this keeps the costs and complexity down – I am really a big fan of it.

VSHN event at the Zurich Openair 2018. Once again we have invited our customers and some lucky winners of 4-day VIP passes to the Apéro at the Zurich Openair this year. Despite quite chilly temperatures we had a wonderful evening with our guests and could watch some great concerts.

It’s been already 2 months since the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has become enforceable on 25 May 2018 to protect data and privacy for all individuals living in the European Union and the new Swiss Data Protection Act is still to be seen.

We are happy to announce that VSHN has won the tender for hosting the Swiss Linked Data Platform of the Swiss Federal Archives.

VSHN AG will build and operate the OpenShift platform for amazee.io and Salsa Digital to host the next evolution of GovCMS for the Australian Department of Finance.

Letzten Freitag fand bereits der 4. VSHN DAY statt, bei dem sich unser Team jährlich zu einem freiwilligen Strategietag trifft, um gemeinsam über die Zukunft der VSHN AG zu diskutieren.

Nach meinem BWL-Studium in meiner Heimatstadt Ravensburg (in der Nähe des Bodensees, da wo die Spiele herkommen ?) hat es mich nach einer kurzen Zwischenstation in Berlin nach Zürich gezogen.

Amazee.io set out to make hosting of Drupal websites easier and more flexible. We always strive to stay at the cutting edge of technology. So it does not come to a surprise that we started adopting a container based approach to hosting. We’ll talk about what containers are and why we believe it’s important to go one step further and open source our technology we use to host websites.

Ich bin schon ein alter Hase. Ich meine alt. Alt und störrisch. Perfektionistisch veranlagt. Alles muss funktionieren, auch Humor, Spass, die Kommunikation, Freundschaften, der Speed und gegenseitige Unterstützung.

Auch dieses Jahr war VSHN an den DevOpsDays 2018 in Winterthur! Als Teil der weltweiten DevOps Bewegung wird sie bereits regelmässig in verschiedenen Ländern durchgeführt, am 2. und 3. Mai 2018 fand sie bereits zum zweiten mal in der Schweiz statt.

Bevor ich zu VSHN kam, war ich im Office- und Salesmanagement in diversen IT Firmen tätig. Die Physik habe ich dank meiner Zeit im Datacenter kennengelernt. Was mich jetzt interessiert, sind die virtuellen Komponenten, die hinter Software- und Cloud-Lösungen stecken

Mein einstiger Berufswunsch war Netzwerk-Techniker oder Software-Entwickler, was sich jedoch bisher nicht ergab. Ich habe meine Berufslehre im Bereich System Technik und in 2012 meine Weiterbildung zum eidg. dipl. Informatiker abgeschlossen.

“Deploy early and often” is one of the core principles of agile development. One solution to this problem are automated build and deploy pipelines. This project uses such a pipeline, based on GitLab CI and OpenShift. A sample PHP application is built and deployed to APPUiO.
